A section of Route 138 in Baie-Saint-Paul will reopen on Thursday

The section of Route 138 located in the Rivière des Mares sector, in Baie-Saint-Paul, in Charlevoix, will be reopened to traffic this Thursday, at the end of the day.

This section had been closed on 1er last May, following the sudden rise of water in the area which had damaged the roadway.

The MNA for Charlevoix–Côte-de-Beaupré, Kariane Bourassa, and the Minister of Transport, Geneviève Guilbault, explain that the recent inspection of the structure of boulevard Monseigneur-De Laval, on the section concerned, did not reveal any damage . However, the roadway around the structure having been heavily affected, major repair work was necessary.

Alternating circulation using flaggers may be required, if necessary, in order to finalize the work in progress.

MNA Bourassa recalls that Route 138 is Charlevoix’s main artery and that its reopening will restore communications and facilitate the transportation of people and goods.

Michaël Pilote, Mayor of Baie-Saint-Paul, adds this artery is vital for the economy of the Charlevoix region.
