Eight days after the stranding of a whale on the island of Sein, Friday September 2, a new whale was found dead, Saturday September 10, on the beach of Kermabec de Tréguennec, in Finistère, reports France Bleu Breizh Izel .
Just like the first whale on the island of Sein, the animal is a fin whale measuring about fifteen meters and weighing about twenty tons. He was found by a walker on the morning of this Saturday.

The gendarmes and the competent associations were quickly notified. Unlike the first mammal, which could not be towed to the continent because of its state of decomposition, this new whale will be able to be analyzed by scientists.
“These are animals about which we have very little information. This stranding will allow us to learn more”explains to France Bleu Breizh Izel Cécile Gicquel, agent of the Iroise marine natural park, in charge of natural heritage.
Fin whale strandings are relatively rare on the French coasts. In 2020, five individuals of this species were recorded on the Atlantic coast, according to a report by the Pélagis observatory, a specialist in marine mammals.
