After having ruled out the possibility of a New Popular Front government, Emmanuel Macron is launching new consultations with the parties on Tuesday, August 27.

In a press release published on Monday, August 26, Emmanuel Macron dismissed the possibility of a New Popular Front government, provoking an outcry on the left. On X, Jean-Luc Mélenchon announced that he was planning a motion of impeachment, considering that “The popular response must be swift and firm”. For his part, Fabien Roussel calls for popular mobilization. Emmanuel Macron launches new consultations on Tuesday, August 27, without inviting either the National Rally and its allies, or La France Insoumise.

The president invites the left-wing parties to cooperate, which the Greens categorically refuse. “We are not going to enter a government that would lead a policy that is contrary to everything we fought against during the mandate”explains Marine Tondelier, national secretary of Europe Écologie les Verts. France has been without a government for 42 days, a situation unprecedented since the post-war period.
