Urban violence took place for the second consecutive night in Cholet, announced the Maine-et-Loire prefecture on Saturday, June 29, specifying that there were no injuries. On the night of Thursday to Friday, municipal police officers had already been targeted by mortar fire in the same district, according to France 3 Pays de la Loire. The prefect, Philippe Chopin, announced that the presence of the national police had been reinforced since Friday. “There are some small tensions from time to time but for the last two nights, we have still had slightly heavier cases, with the sending of reinforcements from Angers and Nantes,” Cholet mayor Gilles Bourdouleix told AFP on Saturday. “There are 30 or 40 young people, generally minors, who are causing trouble, it remains confined to this neighborhood, there are no external excesses”he said.
