Gaza: a second humanitarian aid ship should disembark from Cyprus
While a first boat delivered 200 tonnes of food, Saturday March 16, a second boat should arrive from Cyprus. The hope of a truce between Israel and Hamas remains.
The first humanitarian aid ship finished unloading its cargo on Saturday March 16 in Gaza (Palestine). Two hundred tonnes of food were thus unloaded. The first meals were delivered in pallets with the help of the Spanish NGO Open Arms. “What matters is not the amount of food or the type of meals we bring, but the fact that it was possible to carry out this mission”, indicates Gérard Canals, coordinator of the NGO. A first step, because a second ship, also from Cyprus, is ready to use the same maritime corridor. But the bad weather forecast could delay it.
An exchange between hostages and prisoners hoped for
Meanwhile, images of bombing victims were broadcast. AFP reports 36 dead, all members of the same family in Gaza. But for its part, the Israeli army claims not to be behind the strike. It is impossible to verify this various information in a war of images which has not ended since the massacre of October 7, perpetrated by Hamas commandos. Demonstrations in support of the hostages continued in Israel, with the hope of obtaining an exchange between these hostages and Palestinian prisoners. After more than five months of war, this hope has not weakened. A truce in the Gaza Strip between Israel and the Islamist movement Hamas nevertheless continues to fuel minds.
