A second cookbook for Max l’Affamé

The native chef of Alma and very popular on social networks Max l’Affamé launches his second cookbook on Wednesday, Crazy for cheese. Wanting to showcase Quebec products, the photographer and chef gave himself a gift in this project which focuses on one of his favorite foods.

Maxime Girard-Tremblay, alias Max l’Affamé, is a photographer, host, actor and, more recently, a cook. Indeed, the 42-year-old native of Alma decided a few years ago to go to the School of Catering and Tourism Trades in Montreal to learn cooking. This experience led him to be a food columnist for V Télé and TVA, in addition to hosting a program and capsules for Zeste.

“When I finished my first year in cooking school, I decided to take pictures of the recipes I was making and put them on a blog called Max l’Affamé. Quickly, there was a lot of word of mouth to lead to these derivatives with social networks and TV. It was after all this that I started to write cookbooks, ”explains Max, in a telephone interview with The Daily.

The chef is followed by more than 100,000 subscribers, all platforms combined. He uses these to inspire and show recipes while making collaborations and partnerships with various companies producing Quebec products, which he highlights in his recipes.

He will also use them to promote his book. “This week, I plan to make a video of a recipe from my book. I will film all the steps, edit a recipe that will be found in my book. It allows the book to be known at the same time, ”he assures us. The man loves to exchange and share his daily life with Internet users.

His first book, Kitchen for two, was launched two years ago. So this is his second book, Crazy for cheese, which has 75 recipes and is published by Editions Goélette, which will be available from Wednesday.

The man wanted in this new project to highlight Quebec cheeses. “Cheese is part of my culinary DNA. I always have it in my fridge and consume it every day and even several times a day. It’s essential for me, ”continues the chef.

According to him, the book is aimed at beginners, just like his first book, since the ingredients are simple and people mostly have them at home. The number of steps is also limited.

The recipes are divided into wacky, less conventional sections. We find for example the chapter The day before, Romantic evening or In mode party.

It is also Max who took all the photos in his book, he who has been discovering food photography for a few years. Practicing photography for over 20 years, his niche was more portraiture, which required an adaptation to the chef who still likes to try new things.

For the rest, Alma’s man would like to develop his animation side, without it necessarily being on television, something he does less lately. He also dreams of a magazine possibility. To be continued !
