A second car burned in Quebec in six days

Quebec police are looking for a suspect, while another vehicle fell prey to flames Sunday evening in the Saint-Sauveur sector.

Shortly before 6 p.m., the Quebec Fire Protection Service was called to intervene in connection with a burning car parked on rue du Cardinal-Taschereau.

Firefighters who attended the scene quickly brought the fire under control and it did not spread.

Clues found on site led the Fire Commissioner to believe that it was a criminal act. The Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) and judicial identification were therefore called in to help shed light on the situation.

So far, no one has been arrested in connection with this case.

Second time in six days

This is the second arson attack on a car in less than a week.

Early last Tuesday, firefighters had to go to rue Desroches, in the Maizerets sector, to put out a similar fire.

A car parked directly on the roadway was devastated by a blaze, several details of which suggested a deliberate act.

The SPVQ had carried out a sweep of the area to catch the suspect, without success.

Remember that three people were also arrested in Lévis last week in connection with an arson committed last fall on a parked car.

The spokesperson for the Lévis City Police Department, Jean-Sébastien Levan, affirms that this story was “directly linked to the armed conflict which began last fall” between different factions of organized crime.
