A fifth-grade student from a college in Saint Herblain, in Loire-Atlantique, died as a result of head trauma, after receiving an injection of the papillomavirus vaccine, France Bleu Loire Océan learned Monday, October 30 from the Regional Health Agency. The teenager had vagal discomfort 15 minutes after the injection, on October 19. In his fall, he suffered serious head trauma.
The teenager was hospitalized at the Nantes University Hospital on October 19. He died from his injuries a little over a week after the incident. “This type of discomfort can occur due to stress caused by vaccination, but is unrelated to the vaccine product or to a quality defect in the vaccine”insists the Regional Health Agency in a press release.
An administrative investigation is opened to “establish the conditions for carrying out vaccination and its medical supervision in the establishment, as well as the medical care of the child”. The campaign against the papillomavirus began at the beginning of October, in 7,000 colleges in France.
