A school teacher working in Drancy, in Seine-Saint-Denis, was indicted on February 16 for terrorist conspiracy to commit crimes, the national anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office reported to franceinfo on Monday, February 26. The teacher was placed in pre-trial detention.

He is suspected of having translated into French, sang and edited at least five “anasheeds”, religious songs, advocating jihad, and of having transmitted them to executives of the Islamic State group with a view to their dissemination . These songs were found on the suspect’s personal digital media.

The suspect had no plans to attack

No plans for an attack have been uncovered, a source close to the investigation told franceinfo. Another judicial source specifies that a preliminary investigation was opened on January 22 by the prosecution. The investigations were entrusted jointly to the anti-terrorism section of the criminal brigade and the general directorate of internal security, adds the anti-terrorism prosecution.
