A volunteer Santa Claus, who appears to be sordidly fond of children, has been nabbed by police for downloading hundreds of child pornography files.
James Jude Silverstone, 62, of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida, who works as a city commissioner and is also a holiday Santa, faces 10 counts in connection with distributing child pornography , according to Fox News.
“More than 210 files contained images and videos of child pornography,” the Broward Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
The investigation began in April. Then, in May, authorities raided Silverstone’s home. His electronic devices analyzed by the investigators revealed child pornography material where there were even babies.
“On these devices, investigators discovered hundreds of additional videos and photos of child pornography, some involving children as young as infants involved in sexual acts,” the police statement added.
One of the suspect’s neighbors expressed shock to station WTVJ. “I can’t believe this happened,” said the unidentified man.
“I have known him for 30 years. He’s an exceptional person, one of the best humans I’ve ever had. [connus] …He saved lives. I mean, he volunteers to do everything for everyone,” adds the concussed man.
“I was also with him when he was a volunteer Santa Claus. I mean, he’s just an accomplished benefactor,” he explains. “Someone wants to catch him. It’s not good. I am furious. And anyone who knows him would be too. I’m shaking. I am so upset,” adds the neighbor.
