“A sanction that could happen to us”, Guillaume Canet warns of the environmental emergency in “Acid”

In Acid, the house burns and Michal looks away. Worse, this union representative and father of a torn family does not seem to believe in the announced disaster. Played by Guillaume Canet, the character must nevertheless face the upheaval of the planet. “The film that talks about a sanction that could happen to usdeclares one of the darlings of Cannes to franceinfo. The feature film asks us this question: who will we really be when this happens, hero or coward?”

Just Philippot’s film, back on the Croisette, out of competition, after being selected in 2020 for Critics’ Week for The Cloud, plunges us into a nightmare. Acid rain descends, ravages, dissolves. But will they succeed in making us collectively aware of the environmental drama which is already manifesting itself to a lesser extent for the moment in certain regions of the world? “Cinema allows you to send messages and that’s what’s great”, wants to believe Guillaume Canet. The film will be released in September.
