In Ukraine, Russian strikes on the evening of Wednesday August 24, in a railway station, left at least 25 dead and 31 injured, according to the latest report from the Ukrainian train operator. These bombings, on the day of the country’s independence, were particularly feared by Volodymyr Zelensky.

In Chaplyne (Ukraine), five cars of a passenger train were bombed on the evening of Wednesday August 24. Inside were several dozen people. The dead and injured were evacuated overnight. Thursday morning, the investigators noted all the fragments of projectiles present on the scene of war. In a car, five civilians were also killed instantly. There were also some on the train, as well as Ukrainian soldiers, according to some witnesses.

A house near La Fare was also hit. A woman, who works in the station located 800 m away, speaks like her neighbor of soldiers killed on the train. “These soldiers were in transit, and they were going to be transferred somewhere“, she says. The authorities do not wish to communicate on the presence of soldiers in the train. At least nine civilians were killed in the attack, including two children. One, in a car which circulated near the rails, the other in the village of Tchaplyne, “a quiet town which, until now, had been spared the bombardments“, indicates the journalist Maryse Burgot.
