New episode of the war in Ukraine. An oil depot was attacked on Friday January 19 in the Russian border region of Bryansk. The site is still in the grip of a fire at midday. “Ukrainian terrorists attempted to attack infrastructure on the territory of the city of Klintsy using a drone“, said the governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, on Telegram.

According to him, the drone was “neutralized” by the Russian anti-aircraft defense but at the time of its interception, the machine “dropped a munition” on an oil depot in Klintsy, a town of some 60,000 inhabitants located 70 km from the Ukrainian border. Thirty-two people had to be evacuated.

“No victims”

The official said the attack “did not cause any casualties”but that“a fire” having declared itself, 13 fire trucks were mobilized as well as a specialized train loaded with 120 tonnes of water and five tonnes of fire-fighting foam. A video released by the governor shows huge flames and plumes of black smoke rising from tanks of the state oil group Rosneft. According to this source, the fire was classified “at the highest level of complexity”.

For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the drone attack in the Bryansk region, without specifying the exact location, assuring that it had “destroy” the machine and “foiled” the Ukrainian attempt. On Thursday, Ukraine claimed responsibility for an attack on an oil depot in the Leningrad region, in northwest Russia, nearly 1,000 km from the border between the two countries.
