The intrusion lasted approximately forty seconds. A Russian cruise missile, launched against towns located in western Ukraine, entered Polish airspace before leaving it on Sunday March 24. “Polish airspace was violated by one of the cruise missiles launched last night by the aviation (…) of the Russian Federation”declared the operational command of the Armed Forces of Poland, on the social network X (formerly Twitter). “The object flew into Polish space near the village of Oserdow”he clarified.

The operational command of the Polish Armed Forces emphasizes that the missile was observed by military radars throughout the flight. The Polish army claims to monitor “constantly the situation on the territory of Ukraine and remains on permanent alert to ensure the security of Polish airspace”.

The Polish army claims to have activated “all necessary procedures”

Following this incident, “all necessary procedures to ensure the security of Polish airspace have been activated. Polish and allied aviation, among others, have been activated”reacted the operational command of the Polish armed forces.

Another incident of this type took place in December 2023, when a Russian missile entered Polish airspace before leaving this space a few minutes later, heading towards Ukraine. In addition, in November 2022, a Ukrainian missile fell on the Polish village of Przewodow, near the border with Ukraine, killing two civilians.
