A Rouen retiree wants to start a collection for Ukraine and is looking for a storage room

He doesn’t want to sit idly by. Claude Levallois, soon to be 76 years old, wants to bring his stone to the building to support the Ukrainians. He lives in a residence for the elderly in Rouen, near the Jardin des Plantes, and wants to launch its own collection of hygiene products and foodstuffs. For this he wants to create his association “Entraide France Ukraine”, he is looking for a place – free – to store the products, and raise funds to hire a carrier. He himself would like to visit Poland and Ukraine.

Small details like that make for big projects

Claude Levallois says he already has pledges for 18 palettes of vegetables and water, including promises from traders in the Saint-Sever market. “I am one of the first customers on the Saint-Sever market on Saturdays. It is true that I discuss with market gardeners, and it is by speaking like that that there is one who offered himself for the potatoes, carrots The one who was just opposite said to me ‘we will also participate, bring us the list of products that you are thinking of taking there, and I will collect in Gournay-en-Bray , and I’ll bring the load back to you. As soon as I have the room, I call to finish the truck as soon as possible and leave as soon as possible”.

Three convoys during the Bosnian War

Claude Levallois has experience in this field, he claims to have gone three times in the years 1992 – 1995 to Sarajevo during the war in Bosnia. “The first time I went with a friend, because he didn’t want to go alone, and when we came back, that’s when I decided to collect. I filled a semi-trailer , we went to take it there. I came back and a few months later, I did another collection. And there, I left with three semi-trailers. Given the mobilization that there is currently in France, there is no problem, the truck will be full. Corn the emergency is the local. Because storing between 40 and 45 tons, without premises, nothing can be done. Small details like that make for big projects. At 76, I’m still in good shape as much as I put my form at the service of others“.

Claude Levallois is therefore looking for a place – free – in Rouen or in the nearby town to store donations: canned food, oil, household and bed linen, clothing, cleaning and hygiene products, feminine protection, baby diapers, milk for children, blankets.
