According to what the Sûreté du Québec reports, police officers from the Rimouski-Neigette police station were called to go to the intersection of route 132 and the Cap à l’orignal route shortly after 1 p.m.

The driver of a vehicle traveling on the Cap à l’orignal road would have tried to engage on Route 132, but would probably have misjudged the risk of his maneuver.

The car was hit head-on by another vehicle already traveling westbound on Route 132.

Following the impact, the man who attempted to engage was taken to hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, the 81-year-old individual succumbed to his injuries.

A passenger in the car, an 80-year-old woman, also suffered serious injuries, but there is no fear for her life.

In the other vehicle involved were two people. They also suffered injuries and were taken to hospital, but their lives are not believed to be in danger.

Route 132 was closed in the area until early evening to allow police to analyze the scene.
