a return of the half-hearted cycling edition

10 years after the last edition of Pentecost in Creuse, cycling enthusiasts from 39 departments found themselves on the Creuse roads for a 3-day sporting and tourist moment. Despite a low turnout compared to the previous edition in 2012, which had brought in more than 700 people, the participants were happy to be able to ride and discover the Creuse throughout the weekend.

Slopes and hills

“As the name says: slopes and coasts. Compared to our very flat Picardy, it hurts the legs”, laughs Daniel, a cyclist from Chaulnes, in the Somme. With his friend Bernard, they enjoyed criss-crossing the Creuse throughout this cycling weekend. “I really liked Aubusson and the Creuse gorgesrecalls Bernard. With us we don’t have all that, it’s the plain, the cereals so when we see landscapes like that it’s impressive”underlines Daniel.

Retain cyclists to turn them into tourists

The reliefs are not what frightens Michelle. For Orleans, “the promotion of cycling and various sports activities in the Creuse makes you want to come back.” Retaining cycling enthusiasts is also the wish of the Creuse cycle tourism committee chaired by Jean-Louis Debellut. Even if he says he is a little disappointed by the low participation, the objective is also for him “to discover and encourage people to come back”, he concludes.
