A resident of Romans-sur-Isère (Drôme) was taken into police custody on Monday June 12 after uttering threats against the President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet by telephone, reports France Bleu Drôme Ardèche on Tuesday. He must be referred this Wednesday to the Drôme prosecutor’s office.

On June 8, the 48-year-old man was drunk when he dialed the National Assembly switchboard and threatened the president: “If we put a bullet in her head, will she stop bullshitting?”, he asks before insulting several deputies. His number is then noted by the switchboard operator who transmits it to the investigators. The Drôme is already known to the police for having harassed the police station of his city by telephone.

Arrested at his home on Monday, he does not deny the facts but claims to have no memory of the episode because he was drunk. The 40-year-old is still in custody on Tuesday evening.
