The luxury residence for seniors in Réaux (Essonne) is awash in debt. The electricity was even cut there while several people still live there.

Residents feel like they are living a nightmare. Formerly, the luxury residence for seniors Réaux, in Soisy-sur-École, in Essonne, was equipped with a heated swimming pool, a tennis court and even a golf course. Today bankrupt, it is only a shadow of itself. On site, there is no longer any electricity or heating.

Problem: if the wooded 18-hectare estate has not been maintained for years and time seems to have stopped there, around thirty people, tenants or owners, still live there. “We live like that. Without anything. Without heating, without hot water”, deplores Chantal Roclin, tenant. Opened fifty years ago, the estate was reserved for an elite. Since 2010, the condominium and its debt of 17 million euros have been managed by a judicial administrator. Social support is provided by the prefecture and the communities.
