A gendarme died after an accident in the Landes on Tuesday, April 11, as part of a road check operation, announced the prefecture and the Ministry of the Interior. The vital prognosis of a second agent, seriously injured in the shock which occurred in the afternoon on a secondary road in Sabers, is “engaged”said the Minister, Gérald Darmanin.
Wanting to control a moving vehicle “dangerously fast”, the two gendarmes hit the trailer of a tractor, according to the Minister of the Interior. A 59-year-old reserve warrant officer, married with two children, died on the spot, despite the intervention of the emergency services. Gérald Darmanin hailed the memory of a “former active non-commissioned officer engaged since 1984 within the national gendarmerie and who served as a reservist since September 2021”.
