A little over a month after the start of the war in Ukraine, testimonies relating to the horrors suffered by Ukrainian women are flooding the web. One thinks, for example, of the recent story of Natalya, a 33-year-old mother raped by several Russian soldiers in the middle of the night, in front of her son, and after the murder of her husband.
The day after this sordid testimony, the BFMTV channel broadcast a report showing French citizens trying to “take advantage” of the situation of refugees in order to fill their loneliness. We learn that marriage agencies are currently overwhelmed with requests from gentlemen looking to meet Ukrainian women. “There is an avalanche of calls but unfortunately 90% of these calls are not serious. That is to say that they are men who hope through a misunderstanding to have the chance to host a very beautiful Ukrainian creature in distress, a poor refugee. It’s not indecent, it’s just inappropriate.” explains Katerina, the director of one of these marriage agencies.
War in Ukraine: the photo of a dead woman upsets internet users
This Saturday, April 2, 2022, sadness is again present after the sharing on Twitter of a photo showing the hand of a woman killed by a shell while trying to flee her house. On this shot shared by Arnaud Comte, great reporter and journalist on France 2, we see the key ring in the colors of Europe, fallen from the hand of the deceased.
A strongly relayed photo that literally upset Internet users who expressed their grief: “The (very strong) symbol of this war… If Putin had had a little more balls, he should have attacked NATO…”, “The Russian vampire regenerates with the blood of the innocent Let this monster die!'”, “Civilians do not have to lose their lives in this conflict which they did not ask for”, “Peace to his soul and to all the victims of this horrible war. Lenin wake up, they’ve gone crazy!” can we read among the reactions.
