Temporary aid and structures to face the “cold” and the “severe weather”. The Moroccan royal cabinet published, Thursday, September 14, a press release detailing the emergency decisions taken by King Mohammed VI, after the earthquake which struck Morocco on the night of September 8 to 9. Around 50,000 buildings were damaged by the tremors which left nearly 3,000 dead and more than 5,000 injured, according to the latest official report.

The final number of people made homeless by the earthquake is not known. But the Moroccan residents concerned will be temporarily rehoused in structures designed to withstand cold and bad weather” assures the royal cabinet. Home sites” will also be “furnished with all the necessary amenities” to welcome them.

This first part of the rehousing program also mentions a “emergency aid” equivalent to 2,750 euros paid “to the households concerned”. According to the royal cabinet, nearly 12,800 euros will be allocated to “completely collapsed housing” and for the rehabilitation of partially affected homes, around 7,300 euros will be allocated.
