Robert Badinter died on Friday February 9, at the age of 95. A collection of condolences has been made available to the public at the Ministry of Justice.
In front of the doors of the Ministry of Justice in Paris, the queue stretches to pay tribute to Robert Badinter, on the evening of Friday February 9. “I am present in the sector, and I said to myself, I have to stop by, to be able to pay him this tribute”, confides a man. Many anonymous people came to sign the collection, but also collaborators of the former Minister of Justice. “He was a very, very good minister. We all have very, very good memories of him. Very simple, and with a lot of courtesy, respect for others”remembers one of them.
A “figure of the century”
The announcement of the disappearance of the man who abolished the death penalty in France aroused great emotion. Robert Badinter, Minister of Justice and President of the Constitutional Council was a “figure of the century”, as Emmanuel Macron pointed out. He also left his mark on generations of lawyers. “It’s thanks to him that I am now a student lawyer”, assures a woman who has come to meditate. The doors of the Chancellery will be open until Sunday evening.
