A second regional elected official excluded from his group. After Laurent Gnaedig in the Grand Est, the regional councilor of Occitanie Marie-Christine Parolin has been excluded from the RN group in the Region, the president of this group announced to the AFP on Sunday July 14. The cause: controversial remarks on the Pétainist motto “Work, Family, Fatherland”.

“The group has decided to exclude” This candidate was eliminated in the second round of the legislative elections in Aveyron, following the comments “not in line with the National Rally”explained Yoann Gillet, elected Friday as the new president of the RN group at the Occitanie Regional Council. In addition, she “will be convened, in accordance with our statutes” by “RN disciplinary bodies”he said.

During a debate that took place at the end of May on the local radio station CFM, Marie-Christine Parolin was asked about her desire to replace the republican motto “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity” with that of Marshal Philippe Pétain’s Nazi-collaborating regime, “Work, Family, Fatherland”. She responded: “Quite”.

More than a month later, shortly before the second round of the legislative elections, this exchange came up again. It was the subject of a long article on the Aveyron website Najac Infos on July 5, which Marie-Christine Parolin’s opponent, Laurent Alexandre, highlighted. “Ms. Parolin wants to replace the motto of the Republic with “Work, Family, Fatherland”wrote the LFI MP on X, inviting voters, two days before beating the RN candidate, “to avoid the dishonour of seeing our constituency swing to the far right.”
