Light is used to relieve many cancer patients. It helps treat the side effects caused by cancer treatments. Light therapy sessions come “prevent side effects, burns to the skin (…) or burns to the mucous membranes”explains Doctor Camélia Billard-Sandu, head of the radiology-oncotherapy hospitalization department at the Gustave-Roussy establishment in Villejuif (Val-de-Marne).

Eight minutes under this red light helps protect patients’ skin for their next chemotherapy sessions. Beyond protection, this light can even regenerate damaged tissues. Light therapy sessions are all covered by the hospital.
