a record Lensois hat-trick, the crisis ignites Angers … What to remember from Sunday’s matches

With three goals in less than five minutes, Lensois Loïs Openda scored the fastest hat-trick in the history of the championship, against Clermont on Sunday.

After the sensational Lille-Lyon on Friday, and the sluggish victory of PSG on Saturday in Brest, the 27th day of Ligue 1 continues this Sunday, March 12, with five games on the program at the start of the afternoon. RC Lens took the opportunity to feast at lunchtime in Clermont (4-0), while Nice came up against Nantes (2-2), while Montpellier, Toulouse and Lorient continued their forward march to the costs of Ajaccio, Angers and Troyes.

The stat: Loïs Openda, a hat-trick for history

At the foot of the Puys chain, it is a Belgian volcano which erupted on Sunday, during Clermont-Lens. After the first half hour, Loïs Openda wiped the Clermont defense off the map in four minutes and thirty seconds, enough time for him to score a hat-trick. An XXL performance for the 23-year-old striker, asleep for eight games in Ligue 1, and who signed his awakening by this historic feat. It is the fastest hat-trick in the history of Ligue 1 for fifty years.

It erases from the shelves the Lille record of Matt Moussilou, author of a hat-trick in 4 minutes and 35 seconds on April 2, 2005. The Sang et Or supporters will therefore not fail to appreciate… This hat-trick, accompanied by a goal by Alexis Claude-Maurice, allowed RC Lens to easily win against Clermont (4-0), after three games without a win in the league. This success also allows RC Lens to get back on the podium.

The image: Angevin supporters set fire to the powder

In the absence of fireworks on the lawn (their club has not won for nineteen games), the supporters of SCO Angers lit theirs in the stands. “Management, resign!”, they chanted before lighting smoke bombs and other pyrotechnic devices. The manifestation of their anger caused the stoppage of the meeting, for more than six minutes. Absent during the first act against Toulouse, to signify their dissatisfaction with the situation of the Ligue 1 red lantern, in the midst of an internal and sporting crisis, the ultras from Angevin appeared in their kop at the start of the second act, just after the goal of the Toulouse break.

Their cry of anger without consequence on the scoreboard, since Angers finally lost (2-0) against Toulouse. The Angevins have only scored two points since September 18, and only have ten in the standings, thirteen lengths behind Auxerre, the first non-relegation player.

The series of the moment: Der Zakarian shakes Montpellier

On the banks of the Mosson, the providential man has a name: Michel Der Zakarian. Returning to Montpellier, he is in the process of restoring color to the southern club. Since returning on February 8, MHSC have won four of their five matches. The last success was obtained on the lawn of Ajaccio (1-0), thanks to a goal from Elye Wahi. Result of the races: the Montpellier residents finally breathe in the classification, with eight lengths ahead of Strasbourg, first relegated.
