More than 11,000 people were welcomed to the site of the Château de Chambord (Loir-et-Cher) on Thursday, Ascension Day, which constitutes a new one-day attendance record, France Bleu Orléans reported on Friday May 10.
“Such attendance had never been recorded in Chambord”, confirms Pierre Dubreuil, general director of the National Domain in a press release. In comparison, by the time of the Ascension Bridge in 2023, the maximum number of visitors per day had just exceeded 9,000.
This year, while this big bridge weekend is not over, many tourists have already come. In detail, there were 8,564 visitors on Wednesday, 11,376 visitors on Thursday and 9,000 visitors on Friday, according to the latest figures communicated.
The Château de Chambord is the second most visited castle in France after Versailles. It welcomed more than 1.1 million visitors in 2023, which was also a record.
