I read with interest the exchanges between Gérard Bouchard and Philippe Girard last Saturday in The duty October 14 and 15. It presents very relevant points of view relating to broken dreams, gloom, the obsession with survival, mediocrity, lost and regained pride in Quebec. However, in my opinion, there is a lack of simple recipes to make people love Quebec. I remember one.
The importance of knowing and appreciating the territory we occupy. Explore it to appreciate its nooks and crannies. Including in winter, when everything freezes and the snow rewards us with a unique luminosity in an immense nature which offers an immeasurable experience of intoxicating calm. Why would the extracurricular activities offered to our students only take them to Toronto, Boston or Disney World? Why not include in the program trips and activities carried out somewhere in our remote regions in Gaspésie, Saguenay or Abitibi? Can we love Quebec if we ignore the splendors of its territory which change over the course of four seasons, and if we loathe the cold to the point of seeking at all costs to push ourselves elsewhere?
