In the afternoon of Thursday, November 3, the session of questions to the government was suspended in the National Assembly after a racist remark by a deputy of the National Rally. The remarks provoked indignation in the hemicycle.
It is a rare scene in the hemicycle. The deputies are angry, Thursday, November 3, massed in front of the perch. The president makes a radical decision: “I propose that you suspend the question session to the government“, declares Yael Braun Pivet. What happened ? A deputy from La France Insoumise asked a question on the migrants from the Ocean Viking ship. Suddenly a deputy RN spear : “Let them go back to Africa!“. This provoked an outcry and the bewilderment of left-wing MPs who shouted “Out !” to deputy RNGregory of Fournas.
But two versions are opposed. Some have heard “Go back to Africa!” this which would mean that the deputy RN spoke directly to the deputy BIA of Congolese origin. “The National Gathering spreads hatred and violence and has just proved in practice that he cannot bear that a black man (…) born in France can be a French deputy“says Mathilde panotpresident of the group BIA in the National Assembly. Gregory of Fournas assures that it is a false polemic and that he said well “Let them go back to Africa!“. The majority calls for his resignation.
