(Sydney) A racehorse instead of the train: travelers waiting to board in the suburbs of Sydney were surprised to see an equine arriving at the station, local transport officials reported.
The racehorse accessed the platform of this Australian station on Friday evening, alone, and wandered along its entire length, according to video surveillance images that were unusual to say the least.
The animal, covered in a beige blanket, had escaped from nearby stables, local transportation officials said.
Upon arrival at the station, a train had to remain closed for fear of seeing this curious traveler board.
After walking on the platform for some 17 minutes, the horse finally got on board, but in a trailer, thanks to the arrival of its trainer.
This animal episode was “a little bit unusual”, said Matt Longland, the general manager of Sydney Trains, the local rail transport network.
“It’s not every day that you see a horse on the quay,” said the Minister of Transport for the State of New South Wales, Jo Haylen.
