The meeting could not be held last year, the fault of the Covid-19. So this year, the organizers of the Corrida de la Beaujoire absolutely wanted to reconnect with tradition. Despite the terrible weather, despite the sanitary restrictions, the running was able to hold up well. Nearly 400 runners, 412 precisely, were thus able to take the start of the great race of the event. Including also the two races of the youth categories, there is a total of nearly 500 participants for this 2021 edition.

360 steps to climb
It is true that the course of the great test did not spare the courageous who came to brave a hellish rain. In the program, 9.6 kilometers of running and 360 steps to climb in the mythical enclosure of Beaujoire, the usual lair of FC Nantes. “With the holidays, we see people arriving from Paris, and even from Lille“, according to Caroline Malry, the head of Corrida.”They take advantage of Christmas Eve to see the family, and therefore at the same time clean up“.
In addition to relieving the body of the overflow accumulated during meals, runners also work for a good cause. This year, all the profits from Corrida de la Beaujoire are donated to Bony and Me, an association that works for research against osteosarcoma, a bone cancer that develops in adolescents and young adults. The money collected will be used in particular to pay for connected tablets for the oncology-pediatric service of the Nantes University Hospital.
