A questionable appointment | The duty

The appointment of Mr.me Elghawaby by Justin Trudeau as Canada’s special representative in the fight against Islamophobia is not only questionable, but morally illegal. Indeed, M.me Elghawaby displays her position by wearing a veil, a symbol of religious extremism, and she has also already taken a stand by calling Quebecers Islamophobes. In her official task, she will therefore not be able to demonstrate true impartiality. And any speech she could make other than that of the past could be taxed with hypocrisy.

And does our prime minister, Justin Trudeau, have willful blindness? Naming a veiled woman, who should rather show solidarity with her Iranian colleagues demanding to abolish this veil, symbol of an Islamist authoritarianism which goes so far as to kill its young militants and militants who demand freedom, is unworthy of complacency of a prime minister.

I even believe that, if someone brought a lawsuit to challenge the appointment of this lady, the positions taken by Mr.me Elghawaby could be seen as flawed and that it would probably be necessary to have such an appointment declared unlawful!
