According to information obtained by the TSN network on Tuesday, four or five teams on the North American development circuit would like the 62-year-old to be sidelined. However, there will be discord, since several organizations are said to be satisfied with Howson’s work.

The latter was hired in February 2020 and his contract will end at the end of the current campaign.

In front of the discontent, Bill Daly, the deputy commissioner of the National Hockey League (NHL), would have met and discussed the situation with the governors of the 32 formations of the AHL.

Howson is the 10th president in AHL history and he is the runner-up to David Andrews, who was in charge of the league from 1994 to 2020. Before accepting this mission, Howson worked for many years as an executive in the NHL. He notably worked for the Edmonton Oilers and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
