(France 2)

We only had to wait 24 hours after the New Popular Front family photo to see a fracture appear. In charge, Jean-Luc Mélenchon within France Insoumise who wished not to renew the investiture of several deputies who had expressed disagreements.

Are Alexis Corbière and Raquel Garrido, these two emblematic figures of rebellious France, paying for their criticism of Jean-Luc Mélenchon? Both were not nominated by LFI in their constituency, like three other outgoing deputies. “It was Jean-Luc Mélenchon who settled a score with me, with my friends”, protested Alexis Corbière, Saturday June 15. Same speech from Raquel Garrido who published a message on X “I am being made to pay for the crime of lèse-Mélenchon”.

These are elected officials who affirmed their disagreement with the line of the leader of the movement. They accuse him of a lack of democracy. Within LFI, some have denounced a “purge”. “The decision that was taken is not acceptable”, said Clémentine Autain. AT issue: their ouster on the one hand and, on the other, the investiture by LFI of Adrien Quatennens, outgoing deputy sentenced to four months’ suspended imprisonment for domestic violence. The Greens intend to support the ousted deputies.
