A student from the Gustave-Jaume high school, in Pierrelatte (Drôme), was taken into custody on November 4 for having thrown a chair in the direction of a teacher in full course, on October 18, indicates France Bleu Drôme Ardèche Monday, November 8. While he had hidden his face under a hood, the establishment feared to have been the victim of an intrusion. The Ardèche high school student will finally be summoned to the judicial protection of the youth of Privas. A disciplinary council is also scheduled by the establishment.

A threatening tag, “all teachers, I’m going to behead you”, had been discovered on October 21 on a door of the toilets reserved for the boys of the high school. We could also read “Fuck the Islamophobes”. The principal had lodged a complaint.

A mobile security team, made up of a former police officer and a former head of school, both retired, is also reinforcing the Gustave-Jaume high school at the start of the school year and for a few weeks. Before the All Saints holidays, tags threatening teachers with beheading were found on October 21.

The two experts, trained in conflict management, will meet with management and teachers to identify what is wrong. They can schedule interventions in class, on drugs or secularism. They can also propose to reorganize the space or a greater surveillance of the surroundings of high schools and colleges. The academic director of Drôme was also on site this Monday to hear the teachers, according to France Bleu Drôme Ardèche.

“There is not only one problem, but a bundle of causes which combine. We are a high school which deserves to be classified in REP, the professional part in any case, which is not the case” , testifies Damien Challéat, professor of history and geography at Gustave-Jaume. “Our establishment recruits from colleges which are in the Priority Education Network, but our vocational school does not benefit from the means of the REP to have more teachers per level, more supervisors, and more supervision at the level of the CPEs in particular. “
