A promise to reconsider | The duty

To Mme Plante, mayor, and Mme Ollivier, vice-president of the executive committee,

In the wake of various reactions to the consequences of free transport for people aged 65 and over, who are part of the target group, I must say that I do not agree with this promise. In fact, this recurring amount of $40 million could be more useful to us if it were invested in improving the accessibility of métro stations, such as access to elevators or to toilets. Yes, when you get older, small changes are necessary. And these modifications would also be useful for adults with young children and for people with reduced mobility or otherwise. Above all, we must not reduce the frequency of buses, because waiting 20 to 30 minutes, free service or not, is not a good idea for anyone. The current rate for those 65 and over is very good. I therefore encourage you to reconsider this promise, because the impact on all people using public transit seems to me to be very costly.
