Before the concerts, moreover in Barcelona, it is necessary to hydrate well. This is what Simon and Julien are trying to do, near the Ramblas, the most famous street in the Spanish seaside town, Thursday June 9. “It must be my 10th or 11th Primavera in Barcelonasays Simon. A pleasure to find the perfect site with the Mediterranean, it’s too good. We’re in shorts all night.”
With their group of friends from Paris, they had bought their pass for the Primavera Sound Festival at the end of the last edition, in 2019. The event has not been able to take place for the past two years due to the pandemic. of Covid-19. After this wait, Julien is not disappointed: “The atmosphere remains the same as it has been in previous years. We experienced it well, it’s nice”. The 2022 edition was organized over two weekends, from June 2 to 4 and from June 9 to 11.
And this weekend, at Primavera, the Parisians especially want to see the Strokes, “even if we’ve already had them quite a few times”, says one of the band members. “It’s something you always want to see.” Arrived on the spot, the reflexes return quickly thanks to “a real musical program that you can’t find anywhere in Europe”. The hardest part: staying together, at six. “We have a loss specialist, summarizes Simon, hilarious. We won’t give his first name, he often makes Primavera on his own, we only find him in the apartment, generally”.
During the night, everyone flits from concert to concert, from the punk of Amyl and The Sniffers to the techno that settles in the four corners of the site. And suddenly, we meet Pierre Kwenders, the Quebec singer and DJ at the helm of his Moonshine collective: “In the night, it’s for me. Be ready, it will move. Prepare your hips”. They mixed all day and, as for the festival-goers, this return from the party is a delight. “By the sea, it’s magnificent because you share with many more people, this joie de vivre which is a bit like the essence of Moonshine, says the musician. We are still young people from the African diaspora and it is important for us to share our culture, our art”.

As for Simon, Julien and the others, we find them in front of the English of Ride. They take full advantage of it. These enthusiasts even flew between the two Primavera weekends to cheer Liam Gallagher in concert in Knebworth, north London. “It’s not good for the planet, so it will have to be cut during editing”, concludes Simon, with self-mockery. These great moments of communion between friends, they had been dreaming about it for three years.
