A preliminary investigation for “death threats” was opened Monday, September 25 by the Marseille prosecutor’s office after the death threats denounced last week by the president of Olympique de Marseille Pablo Longoria, franceinfo learned on Monday from the city’s public prosecutor, Dominique Laurens, confirming information from the newspaper La Provence.

“We have opened a preliminary investigation”, announces the Marseille prosecutor, also confirming that she has not yet received a complaint from the president of Olympique de Marseille. Although the Marseille public prosecutor’s office did not receive a complaint, it considered that the facts reported in the press were serious enough to take legal action.

Pablo Longoria withdrew from the presidency of the club, as well as other members of the board of directors of the Marseille club, after a meeting with groups of supporters last Monday, during which “the limits have been exceeded”according to him. “In 2023, a manager of any club cannot endure these threats. I do not accept them. I was not afraid, but I was shocked, I consider that this is not normal”he added, assuring that a complaint would be filed.
