Martine Aubry, the mayor of Lille, is the target of a preliminary investigation for active and passive corruption as well as illegal taking of interest during the last municipal elections, opened at the end of August by the Lille public prosecutor’s office, franceinfo learned on Wednesday September 20 from a close source of the file, confirming information from BFMTV.

This investigation follows a report from her LREM opponent in the 2020 municipal elections, Violette Spillebout, who denounced in particular the allocation of a municipal job to a boxer against her public support for Martine Aubry. According to the town hall, Licia Boudersa had already had ten employment contracts with the municipality.

Violette Spillebout had already contested the results of these elections by denouncing irregularities and was dismissed by the administrative court of Lille, then the Council of State in 2021.
