A postman from Bourgoin-Jallieu (Isère) kept 13,000 letters at home because he was unable to finish his rounds. The Post Office filed a complaint.

The postman was attached to a distribution center in Bourgoin-Jallieu (Isère). He had been appointed a year ago. Now he is suspended. When he accidentally searched his home for a completely different reason, the police discovered 13,000 letters of mail that he had never delivered. We met him. He admits his fault and says he acted this way because he could not complete his rounds.

The postman has been hiding letters for eight months. In one neighborhood, several residents have been victims, such as a woman who no longer received rent receipts or bank statements. All letters must be forwarded to their recipient with an apology note that will allow customers to justify themselves in the event of a bill to pay. The suspended postman risks up to 45,000 euros in fines and three years in prison.
