A posthumous novel by Marie-Claire Blais

Almost a year after the death of Marie-Claire Blais, Éditions du Boréal will publish Augustino or enlightenmenta novel on which the author was working before dying.

In this new title which will be released on September 27, we find Augustino, a character that we notably followed in Birth of Rebecca in the Age of Torment, published in 2008. The latter retired to India, where he lives surrounded by people affected by leprosy. Also affected by the disease, “he remembers the tragic fate of his ancestors who perished in the death camps”, indicates the editor about the story.

Augustino or enlightenment will be the eleventh and last volume of the cycle Thirstystarted in 1995 by the author who has written nearly thirty novels.

Marie-Claire Blais died on November 30, 2021, at the age of 82.
