The tiger mosquito is not only unpleasant. It also transmits diseases that are usually found in tropical climates. Analyzes should specify whether the patient has contracted dengue fever or another tropical virus.
One thing is certain, the patient has not traveled abroad. It is therefore an indigenous case, the first in New Aquitaine. Doctors call for vigilance. “A patient who comes with a fever and a rash should consult either the emergency room or (his) general practitioner”, advises Bruno Malvy, infectious disease specialist at the Bordeaux University Hospital (Gironde). To limit the risk of epidemics, the Regional Health Agency will set up a mosquito control program on the night of Saturday, October 22 in places frequented by the patient.
