Visiting the island, Gérald Darmanin announced a project worth 85 million euros. He also promises to do what is necessary to combat the cost of living.

A temperature check and a few announcements. This is what Gérald Darmanin worked on for 48 hours during his visit to Reunion. A trip that leaves the Reunionese in the expectation: “We don’t know what will happen. We are waiting to see what will evolve or not”. A quick visit during which Gérald Darmanin and his Minister Delegate met around twenty local actors. Among the priorities, the fight against the high cost of living: “Jean-François Carenco, as soon as we return to Paris, will bring together the carriers, distributors, producers and within two months, he will have found the agreements to be able to greatly reduce the cost of living here in Reunion, as in the Outres -sea”.

Another announcement, the construction of a new police station or that of a maternity hospital. A project unveiled during his meeting this afternoon with the caregivers of the Saint-Denis University Hospital. “I have just presented a project at 85 million euros decided by the government of the Republic, for a new maternity ward and I am satisfied with these projects. I will leave for Paris with questions and projects to defend”, said Gérald Darmanin. The Minister is planning a second visit to Réunion next September. He will first travel to New Caledonia next week, then to Mayotte in August.
