a police officer targeted by a complaint for violence with a weapon

A 24-year-old man accuses a police officer of violently having him hit with truncheons for no reason on Wednesday evening July 13 in the 19th district of Paris. His testimony is published by our colleagues at Mediapart. He says he was aimed at the face and on the shoulder.

When the events occurred, the young man already had apparent injuries. His shoulder was previously fractured in a traffic accident. “They came, took me slaughtered for nothing and left“, he said. His jaw was fractured and he lost several teeth.

An “irreproachable” profile

At the time of the events, the young man was with two friends at the bottom of his building. The police arrived and would have them chased. The police had just been the target of a mortar and intervened following the firing of firecrackers. The plaintiff denies being the author of the mortar fire because his shoulder was fractured.

The young man filed complaint for ‘intentional violence by persons holding public authority’. A complaint which was confirmed by the Directorate General of the National Police (DGPN). “My client has an irreproachable profile, his criminal record is clean and he is _unknown to police_said his lawyer, Me Bitton.

Several investigations in progress

An investigation was opened on July 16 for “violence with a weapon by a person holding public authority resulting in incapacity for work (ITT) less than or equal to eight days”, specified the Paris prosecutor’s office.

The investigations were entrusted to the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN). The Paris police headquarters and the DGPN also claim that the General Inspectorate of the National Police has been seized and that a administrative inquiry was opened regarding the policeman.
