Around 2 a.m., Tuesday February 13, a police officer used his service weapon on a driver who had just refused to comply in the town of Créteil (Val-de-Marne), franceinfo learned from the parquet. The driver, injured in the chest, was transported with a life-threatening condition, his condition is now “stabilized”.

According to a police source contacted by franceinfo, a car with three occupants committed several traffic offenses on the Paris ring road, near Créteil, and refused to stop. A pedestrian brigade then tried to stop the vehicle in the town of Créteil with a Stopstick device, which allows the tires to be deflated. Still, according to this police source, the car swerved towards a police officer who was then injured in the leg. He used his service weapon and fired twice in the direction of the car. The car, an Audi RS3, stopped 150 meters away and the three occupants were arrested.

Several tens of thousands of euros in cash found in the car

The driver, injured in the chest, was then taken care of by the firefighters, who carried out first aid, he was then transported with a vital prognosis, according to the Créteil public prosecutor’s office, which specifies that his condition is now “stabilized”, the bullet being located at the level of the left armpit. The police officer, shocked, was also taken care of by the firefighters. The two passengers were taken into custody. A large sum of cash, between 20,000 and 50,000 euros, was found in the car, the prosecution said. A source close to the investigation specifies that the occupants of the car were “very unfavorably known” police services.

Two investigations were opened by the prosecution. The first was entrusted to the Val-de-Marne departmental judicial police service for attempted intentional homicide of a person holding public authority, aggravated refusal to comply and money laundering. The second was entrusted to the IGPN, the police department, to determine the conditions for opening fire by the police officer.
