A police officer, already convicted of rape in the first instance by the Essonne Assize Court, fled after being in police custody as part of an investigation into domestic violence, franceinfo learned on Tuesday March 12 from the prosecution d’Evry confirming information from Politis.
The man was taken into police custody after his partner filed a complaint on March 5 for violence. He was arrested in Juvisy, in the Essonne department. However, the official did not “no longer subject to police custody or coercive measures”ensures the prosecution.
He is still wanted. The official, stationed in Paris, had been suspended from his duties since December 14, 2023, the Police Prefecture told franceinfo. A judicial investigation into violence by a spouse resulting in incapacity for less than eight days was opened, with the issuance of an arrest warrant.
The police officer was already known to the courts and placed under judicial supervision. At first instance, in September, he was sentenced by the Essonne Assize Court to ten years of criminal imprisonment for rape, sexual assault and violence against three ex-partners. The facts, according to the victims’ testimonies, took place between 2008 and 2014. Placed in detention following the trial, he was then released under judicial supervision.
