A new unit devoted to unsolved cases has been created in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine).
The rape and murder of Sabine Dumont in 1987 remained an unsolved case, a “cold case”. The investigations have just been entrusted, 35 years after the facts, to a specialized cell of the court of Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine). “The Nanterre public prosecutor’s office, and this is just the beginning, is working on 107 procedures which have been identified from various sources of information”, says Pascal Prache, public prosecutor. Of the 107, seven have just been assigned to an investigating judge to be re-examined in the light of new technologies.
“The investigations attached to each of the files will be specific, time-consuming, require a lot of time”, specifies Catherine Pautrat, president of the court of Nanterre. Among the reopened files, that of little Estelle Mouzin. The shadow of serial killer Michel Fourniret still hangs over his disappearance.
