A podcast wins the ÉquiLibre award

The podcast series Flat belly: the culture of diets with Loouniehosted by Caroline Huard and produced by KOTV, won the 13e Equilibre Prize. Awarded by the organization of the same name, following a public vote, this award aims to highlight Quebec initiatives that have successfully promoted the acceptance of body diversity.


Available on Radio-Canada’s OHdio platform since January 2022, this podcast takes the form of a personal quest, the one Caroline Huard embarked on to understand the effects of diet culture and free herself from it. “For me, diet culture is all that ever since I was little I felt like a bad person because I didn’t have a flat stomach,” she explains. at the start of the first episode. It’s also all the thoughts that say I’m doing something wrong if I can’t lose weight. And everything that tells me that not being fat would be more important than my health and even my well-being. The former occupational therapist, who has become a creator of vegan recipes, discusses the subject with several guests, including psychologist Janick Coutu, nutritionists Catherine Lefebvre and Julia Lévy-Ndejuru, photographer and anti-fatphobia activist Julie Artacho as well as the professor in the Department of Medicine from Université Laval Benoit Arsenault.
