The investigation lasted several weeks and the facts are final. A platoon from the prestigious Amay battalion (Belgium) has just been disbanded, after acts of violence and humiliation during integration rituals. “What happened is unacceptable. Such behavior is always followed by firm and drastic measures”indicated the Belgian Minister of Defense, Ludivine Dedonder.
Several dozen people involved
For Admiral Michel Hofman, head of Belgian Defense, “this is a serious and probably unique decision in the recent history of Belgian Defense.” It was through an email from relatives that the Minister of Defense was alerted to these facts. A few dozen people are involved.
