Exactly 35 years ago, on May 3, 1987, Dalida ended her life in her house in Montmartre, Paris. Sad in her life, the diva was nevertheless joyful in her songs. Throughout her career, she has continued to bring herself up to date, especially with disco.

In 1983, Dalida interpreted “To die on stage”. It’s the diva’s last disco hit, transformed today into a techno version. During her lifetime, the singer often revisited her repertoire in order to keep up with the times. This is how in France, before anyone else, the singer borrowed disco rhythms from America.

In the 1950s, however, Dalida sang a completely different register, romantic songs. “I said to myself that we had to do something else and that came a bit with the disco”, she said. In 1974, she took over the title “J’attendrai” by Rina Ketty, but in her own way. “She wanted to move. Given that she knew how to dance very well, that she had an elegance, she was born to dance. She was so successful that she resumed all her first successes in disco”, testifies his brother and producer, Orlando. Dalida was thus a pioneer of French disco, probably the most popular period of her career.
